CHAMBER MUSIC CITY PRESENTS ATTACCA QUARTET

Two-time Grammy winners headline intimate October concert in Hillsboro Village

September 10, 2024

NASHVILLE, Tenn., September 10, 2024  –  Following a sold out Spring Concert, Chamber Music City is bringing the New York-based Attacca Quartet to Nashville for its next performance. The acclaimed string ensemble will present a one-night-only show on Wednesday, October 23 at Ruby, an intimate event venue in Hillsboro Village.

Founded in 2003 by violinist Amy Schroeder and cellist Andrew Yee, the quartet is now recognized as one of the world’s most versatile ensembles, with repertoire ranging from classical to electronica and video game music. Fervent advocates of new compositions, they received the 2020 and 2023 Grammy Awards in Best Chamber Music Performance for their collaborative albums with Pulitzer-winning composer Caroline Shaw, and recently ventured into the pop music world as the featured string ensemble on Billie Eilish’s latest album Hit Me Hard and Soft. More information on Attacca Quartet can be found at www.attaccaquartet.com.

The quartet’s Nashville program will open with Shaw’s 2016 work “Blueprint,” and close with a rendition of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F Minor. Chamber Music City’s founding artistic director, percussionist Ji Hye Jung, will also join the quartet on vibraphone for a performance of Andy Akiho’s “Aluminous.”

“I am so excited to bring the Attacca Quartet, a group of musicians that I admire and respect, to Nashville. I cannot wait for all Nashvillians, from classical superfans to newbies, to experience this unique chamber music concert in October.”

- Ji Hye Jung, Founding Artistic Director
