In May 2024, Chamber Music City launched with a simple but ambitious vision: to bring innovative, electrifying, and intimate musical experiences to Middle Tennessee. Thanks to your support, what began as an idea has grown into a vibrant community where audiences gather to connect, discover, and be inspired through exceptional artistry. Now, two years later, we are proud to present our first full season of programming.
The 2026/27 season begins in October with pianist Gloria Chien, clarinetist Jose Franch Ballester, and cellist Clancy Newman joining forces with Artistic Director Ji Hye Jung for an evening of old and new masterworks. The world premiere of David Bruce’s “States of Glory,” co-commissioned by Chamber Music City, celebrates America’s 250th with poignant reflections on folk songs, freedom, and the future, while works by Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms present a poignant dialogue between the past and present.
In January, cellist and composer Clarice Jensen brings her distinctive sonic world to Christ Church Cathedral. Drawing from her acclaimed album In holiday clothing, out of the great darkness, Jensen transforms the space through a mesmerizing blend of improvisation, looping, and electronic textures. The result is an immersive concert experience that blurs the boundaries between classical performance, ambient music, and sound installation.
Our season concludes in March with our return to the historic Belcourt Theatre featuring Junction Trio, an eclectic ensemble composed by violinist Stefan Jackiw, pianist Conrad Tao, and cellist Jay Campbell. All classical music rockstars in their own right, the combined virtuosity of their ensemble brings a fresh energy to the world of chamber music and offers a fitting finale to Chamber Music City’s inaugural season as we celebrate collaboration, creativity, and the joy of live performance.
Whether you’re a lifelong chamber music enthusiast or discovering it for the first time, we can’t wait to welcome you for these three electrifying evenings.
